Empowering and Inspiring Volunteers

Ministry of Empowerment is run by individuals made up from different background and race who volunteer their time and services to help the charity to achieve its aim, mission and visions.

Throughout our various events and activities, we were able to improve the way individuals access our volunteering opportunities

Ministry of Empowerment does its very best to match volunteers to appropriate tasks that encourage willingness to participate.

Comments and Insights

Volunteer Anthea Allen

“I attended the Wednesday Evening drop-in sessions with my mom where I enjoyed learning different arts and craft and met new people. I brought my children along and they also enjoyed playing games and making flowers and different art things. Through that I had an opportunity to volunteer as MoE journalist and I have been doing the weekly newsletter for MoE for about 3 months now”.

Volunteer Marjorie Alleyne

“I love volunteering because it helps me to give some of my spare time to the community. It makes me happy when I am helping others and it gives me lots of pleasure meeting all those different faces, it has lifted me up. I have been doing volunteering for nearly nineteen years. I must say, I love doing it and will continue as long as I can with the help of God”.

Volunteer Beverley Herbert

“I love volunteering with MoE. My working career was in finance and I am very glad that although I am retired, I can still continue to keep my brain working. In our volunteering family we all come together to assist no matter what the task. With my fellow colleagues in the finance part of MoE we are a team, a true team working together with love, laughter and togetherness which is the operative word. As long as God continues to give me strength I will continue to volunteer with MoE.”

Volunteer Carole Hart

“I volunteer as a Textile tutor it keeps me active and in touch with the many who come to learn a new skill.
It brings tremendous satisfaction to those who learn and to myself it keeps the grey matter turning, plus I get to pass on a skill, that will fill many hours of those who spend a lot of time on their own.”

Volunteer Latoya Payne

“I have been volunteering at the Ministry of Empowerment (MoE) for over 10 years now. The impact this has had on myself and my family has been phenomenal.
There have been various opportunities for me to use and develop skills whilst supporting the ministry over this period and this has given my family the opportunity to meet people of various ages and socio-economic standing in our local community, form friendships and give back to the local community in terms of time and skills.  The youth programmes my children participated in when they were younger gave them the chance to engage in positive activities, develop resilience, self-confidence and acquire new skills.

Volunteer Jo Wilkins

“I enjoy getting up in the mornings to come into MoE office knowing that I have something productive to do. I feel very inspired when I am able to use previous accountancy skills for income, expenditure and reconciling the accounts. However, I have since learned about other accounting applications that assist in keeping the daily accounts in order.

Being at a retiring age, it’s great to spend time with other team members in sharing both social and training experience which has impacted on mindset and wellbeing. Mentoring other volunteers and work experience students, particularly from the Write Time Independent School, has been veryrewarding.”

Volunteer Lola Adeyi

“I enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge on floristry. It is very rewarding to see everyone being so creative throughout the therapy sessions. Being a volunteer is a lovely way to meet new friends and be active.”

Volunteer Charmaine Fearon

“I enjoy being part of the volunteers’ hospitality team. Ministry of Empowerment has enabled me to tap into my ability to empower, inspire and uplift others in being the best version of themselves in all that they do and desire and I feel very proud to be part of an organisation that makes a difference in other women’s lives.”

Volunteer Veronika Sam

“I have been supporting MoE’s social media and happy to be part of Ministry of Empowerment. I have been volunteering with MoE for 4 years now. I love being part of a community that supports others. Hopefully there will be more support from the local authorities to support MOE

“Has part of my role as Choir Administrator, I support the choir by updating of information, sending out birthday greetings and offering support when ever I can. Many choir members remember singing at the Labour Party Christmas party and the MP’s joined in which made the whole occasion fun and memorable. “I am very proud to be a part of this community gospel Choir.”

Volunteer Aichel Morendo-Johnson

“I have been volunteering with MoE for almost 8 years. Over the years I have delivered Spanish sessions to teens and matured-aged. I also proof read and research relevant topics.

MoE has given me an opportunity to meet new and diverse people from the community. My vision for MoE is that the charity will be wider-known across England and perhaps even the rest of the UK (Wales, Scotland, N.I.)”

Volunteer ESTHER SINCLAIR

“My name is Esther Sinclair and I have been volunteering with MoE for over 5+ years.

I really enjoy meeting new people and networking, working alongside many gifted and talented women in the community. MoE has provided me the opportunity to perform at various events with the community Choir. Over the years I have been supporting the Youth in Partnership Project at local schools namely The Crescent Primary School with arts and crafts for the children after school.

I enjoy volunteering as an event coordinator and being a member of MoE community
Choir.”

Volunteer Daniel Iga

I found out about the choir through my friend Frank Mukisa, who was volunteering to do various administrative and other tasks for the Ministry of Empowerment.

At first appearance, I didn’t expect these ladies to have such wonderful singing voices. I was so amazed

My vision is to see the choir reach the hard to reach and our wider communities as we grow together with sincere love for God and each other.

My vision is for every member to use their talents and gifting to enhance the richest of the ECGC and whoever hears our songs will feel and be blessed.

In addition to directing the choir, I am a musician playing drums, keyboard, guitar to name a few.  I also able to record and edit videos.

My moto is  ‘TOGETHER WE CAN DO BETTER’

I love being a part of this God fearing, Loving and Caring Charity Ministry of Empowerment.

I often feel that I don’t have much to give but by God’s grace, I am always willing to give a lending help when needed.
